The Vision of the Light

August 7th, 2011

In this sermon for the Feast of the Transfiguration, Archbishop Scott McLaughlin discusses the symbolism lying behind the biblical event, and shows that the transfiguration of Jesus also is a promise for the future, when we will all reflect God's glory. Finally, the sermon urges Christians to treat seriously the means by which God has always spoken to His people: through dreams and visions. Archbishop McLaughlin suggests that Christians reject the modern, western notions of materialism and embrace a biblical worldview, where inner and outer states of consciousness are united, and His people receive guidance and comfort in direct communication with the Divine.
